EMEA Capex Delivery Manager

EMEA Capex Delivery Manager Remote (with regular travel across Europe) About the role We are looking for an experienced and commercially aware Capex Delivery Manager to support the successful delivery of a significant EMEA-wide capital investment programme across our Packaging division. This is not a traditional project management role. Instead, you will operate as a senior engineering and delivery leader—providing governance, assurance, and oversight across multiple capital projects. You will work closely with regional teams, ensuring projects are well-defined, effectively executed, delivered on time, within budget and deliver the required outcomes. You will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of the 80:20 capital programme and other complex, high value projects (£2m+), while giving senior leadership confidence that projects are robust, controlled, and set up for success.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Group Capex project delivery support across EMEA packaging sub-regions Oversee a portfolio of medium to complex capital projects (circa £200m total value) Ensure projects are delivered in line with agreed timelines, budgets, and business objectives Identify delivery risks early and work with project teams to mitigate them Provide engineering and technical assurance across the full project lifecycle Ensure projects meet Group Capex governance standards and gateway requirements Lead and support Project Engineering Gate Reviews Drive consistency in planning, cost control, and performance tracking across the portfolio Act as a key interface between regional project teams, business unit leaders, and EMEA senior leadership Build strong relationships across engineering, operations, and finance teams Provide assurance to senior leadership on project viability and delivery confidence Enhance the effectiveness and consistency of capital project execution across the region What we would like to see: Experienced in capital project environments Professional qualification desirable (e.g., MAPM, Chartered Engineer or equivalent) Strong background in engineering and project delivery (manufacturing or industrial setting preferred) Proven experience overseeing multiple projects simultaneously Experience working with large-scale capital programmes Exposure to governance frameworks, stage-gate processes, and project assurance Strong understanding of project and programme delivery principles Ability to assess project health across scope, cost, schedule, and risk Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple levels Commercial awareness with the ability to balance cost, risk, and value Strong analytical and problem-solving capability Willingness to travel across Europe as required What we can offer you: Competitive salary Qualifying Sick Pay scheme Pension scheme & Life insurance Share Save scheme Income Protection 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays Employee Assistance Programme Virtual GP, Occupational Health & free Flu vaccine Cycle to Work and shopping discounts We are DS Smith, together with International Paper, we are a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions and other fibre-based products.
