Key Responsibilities

As a Remote Freight Handler and Logistics Coordinator, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Freight Handling: Transport freight across dock areas to and from trailers for loading and unloading, using appropriate motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Documentation Verification: Verify that documentation matches freight descriptions, including type, weight, and hazardous materials, using current electronic or manual systems.
• Freight Securing: Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, such as pallets, straps, and rope.
• Damaged Freight Repair: Recoup and repair damaged freight when necessary, to ensure that packages are delivered in good condition.
• Documentation and Reporting: Verify and complete required documentation and reports, to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Customer Support: Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed, providing excellent customer service and support.
• Hostling Duties: Perform hostling duties if required, which may include moving trailers and coordinating with other team members.
• Compliance: Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures, to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, although not essential.
• Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years of age to apply for this role.
• Prior Experience: Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, and/or forklift operations is preferred, although not essential.
• Hostling Experience: If hostling/yard mule duties are required, experience in this area is preferred.
• Math and Communication Skills: You must have the ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator, as well as basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical Abilities: You must be able to lift and carry hand freight of varying weights, lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more.
• Teamwork and Independence: You must be able to work independently and as a team member, with the ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout your shift.

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following preferred qualifications will be advantageous in this role:

• Previous Dock/Warehouse Experience: Previous experience working in a dock or warehouse environment is preferred, as it will provide you with a strong understanding of the operations and procedures.
• Forklift Certification: A forklift certification is preferred, although not essential, as it will demonstrate your ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Logistics and Transportation Knowledge: Knowledge of logistics and transportation procedures and regulations is preferred, as it will enable you to make informed decisions and provide excellent customer service.
