  • Transcribe and edit legal documents, including court proceedings, depositions, and other legal materials, with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple requests and deadlines simultaneously, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Follow and adhere to specific transcription style guidelines, ensuring consistency and quality in all work products.
  • Conduct thorough research to ensure accuracy and context in transcripts, utilizing legal terminology and jargon appropriately.
  • Interact with team members in a professional and respectful manner, maintaining open communication and collaboration.
  • Utilize computer software and technologies to complete tasks efficiently, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and systems.

Essential Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A college or university degree or court reporting/transcription certification, demonstrating a strong foundation in language, research, and analytical skills.
  • Proven experience as a transcriptionist or editor, preferably in the legal industry, with a portfolio of work that showcases your attention to detail, language skills, and ability to think contextually.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to think logically and research thoroughly, ensuring accuracy and quality in all work products.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and jargon, as well as general court procedures and methodology, allowing you to navigate complex legal documents with ease.
  • Computer literacy and comfort with learning new technologies, enabling you to efficiently utilize software and systems to complete tasks.
  • Fluency in English, with a solid understanding of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and idioms, ensuring error-free transcripts and edits.

Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • AAERT (American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers) Certified Electronic Transcriber (CET) or similar certification, demonstrating expertise and commitment to the field of transcription.
  • Experience in the legal or transcription industry, providing a deeper understanding of legal procedures, terminology, and best practices.
  • A strong understanding of legal industry methodology, general court procedures, and legal terminology, allowing you to navigate complex legal documents with ease and accuracy.
