Position: Founding AI Engineer, Customer-Facing Duties: Serve as a critical technical leader bridging LlamaIndex’s AI platform with enterprise customer needs. The role involves end-to-end ownership of complex customer implementations, deep technical collaboration with product/engineering, and significant personal commitment to customer success and innovation velocity.

• Engage with enterprise clients to identify high-impact AI use cases and design tailored solutions that align with complex business goals and infrastructure constraints
• Architect and implement scalable Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using Python, vector stores, and LLM orchestration frameworks.
• Design and deploy secure, compliant, and scalable AI applications on cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Lead rapid development of proof-of-concepts, internal tools, and AI integrations with enterprise systems (e.g., Slack, Notion, Confluence).
• Develop and maintain production-grade data pipelines using orchestration tools such as Dagster or Airflow.
• Contribute actively to the LlamaIndex open-source project, driving core feature development, bug fixes, documentation, and community support.
• Create frontend components and developer tools using TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Lead customer workshops, deployment reviews, and technical onboarding sessions.
• Translate customer feedback into product insights through close collaboration with engineering and product teams.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field and five (5) years of post-baccalaureate experience in a technical role such as Machine Learning Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Customer Engineer. Special Skills Required:

• 5 years of hands-on programming experience in Python + SQL
• 3 years building and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments
• 1 year customizing and deploying LLM-based applications, including RAG architectures
• Deploying infrastructure on cloud environments using containers or infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
• Frontend development with TypeScript/JavaScript
• Interfacing directly with enterprise customers in a technical consulting or pre-sales capacity
• Experience building AI-powered integrations with platforms such as Slack or Notion
• Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally up to every 2 weeks to conduct customer workshops, deployment support, and cross-site engineering collaboration.
• Weekend and evening hours will be required to support global deployments.
