Fund Accounting Controller (Remote)

About the Opportunity: We are partnering with a growing real estate organization seeking an experienced Fund Accounting Controller Consultant to support fund accounting, financial reporting, and operational accounting functions. This role will serve as a key member of the finance team, overseeing accounting deliverables, reviewing financial reporting packages, and partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting across multiple investment entities. The ideal candidate brings strong fund accounting expertise, a background in alternative investments or real estate, and the ability to independently manage complex accounting responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Duration: 5+ Month Contract Location: Remote (Must be available during PST business hours) Compensation: $70–$90/hour Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience. Scope:

• Review accounting records, reconciliations, and financial reporting deliverables across multiple investment entities.
• Evaluate fund activity, cash transactions, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting policies.
• Analyze financial statements and reporting packages prepared by external service providers and internal accounting teams.
• Support quarterly and annual reporting cycles through detailed review of schedules, disclosures, and supporting analyses.
• Assist with technical accounting matters, accounting policy development, and process improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with finance, operations, and investment teams to research and resolve accounting questions and reporting issues.
• Provide oversight of outsourced accounting functions and monitor the quality and timeliness of accounting deliverables.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen reporting processes, controls, and documentation.
• Serve as a trusted accounting resource for cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.

Qualifications & Expertise:

• CPA certification required.
• 5–10 years of progressive fund accounting experience with significant review and oversight responsibilities.
• Strong background in investment fund accounting, alternative investments, real estate, private equity, or similar asset management environments.
• Demonstrated ability to review financial statements, reconciliations, and reporting packages with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience navigating complex organizational structures and investment vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with complex investment structures and performance allocation methodologies is preferred.
• Prior public accounting experience, including Big Four experience, is a plus.
• Experience with enterprise accounting systems and investment management platforms preferred.
