[Remote] Church Consultant, Church Relations - Charlotte, NC

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is seeking a Church Consultant to serve as an ambassador to congregations and mid councils. The role involves building relationships, promoting the Benefits Plan, and consulting with employers to implement benefit strategies while traveling within North Carolina and South Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the Board of Pensions to church councils and employers by building and maintaining positive, trusting, and productive relationships with congregations and mid councils of the PC(USA)
  • Promotes and interprets the Benefits Plan in supporting presbytery and congregational leaders in moments of challenge or crisis
  • Consults with employers to determine benefit strategies and implement benefit offerings, encourages retention of existing business with the Board of Pensions, and supports the expansion of business with church employers
  • Promotes the identity and purpose of the Board of Pensions, highlights new plans and programs, delivers benefits workshops and webinars, and connects the Board’s plans and programs to the Presbyterian values of justice, compassion, community nature, and good stewardship
  • Provides Board staff with feedback and pertinent information from mid councils, employers, and plan members to ensure the plans and programs it administers are relevant and suitable

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • 5 years' experience in and familiarity with the PC (USA) and congregational life
  • Must reside or be willing to relocate to the Charlotte metro area
  • An ability to travel approximately 50% of the time, within assigned region in North Carolina and South Carolina, and nationally, such as to General Assembly and other meetings as required
  • Thorough knowledge of the Benefits Plan and the ability to keep current with changes, trends, and structural application of employer benefits
  • Strong relationship management skills with internal and external clients
  • An ability to connect Reformed theology with foundations of the Benefits Plan and congregational practice and finance and personal finance, including financial matter discussions
  • An ability to develop a thorough understanding of the Benefits Plan, Church polity, and the nature and expectations of our membership
  • An ability to design and deliver effective presentations to individuals and groups of all levels and benefits knowledge
  • A high level of proficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft Office; specifically strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong leadership and organization skills and a strong sense of accountability and problem-solving capabilities
  • An ability to navigate through ambiguity and adapt to changing directions and strategy with agility
  • An ability to stay current and maintain a level of benefits industry and denominational expertise via networking, seminars, literature, and formal training
  • Master's degree
