Remote Transcriptionist (Audio-to-Text)

Job Summary Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a detail-oriented and proficient Remote Transcriptionist (Audio-to-Text) to join our growing virtual operations team. This position involves converting high-quality audio and video recordings into accurate written text documents. The ideal candidate will have exceptional listening comprehension, fast and precise typing abilities, and a strong command of the English language. You will work with a range of materials including interviews, meetings, podcasts, and business recordings, ensuring confidentiality and precision in every transcript.

Key Responsibilities

  • Listen carefully to audio recordings and accurately transcribe spoken words into written text.
  • Review, edit, and proofread transcripts to ensure 100% accuracy, grammar, and formatting consistency.
  • Identify speakers, background context, and maintain the tone and intent of the conversation.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity and discretion.
  • Meet strict deadlines while maintaining the highest transcription quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project coordinators and clients to clarify unclear audio or specific formatting requirements.
  • Maintain organized digital files and ensure timely delivery of completed transcripts.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent English listening and comprehension skills.
  • Fast and accurate typing speed (minimum 60 words per minute preferred).
  • Proficiency in grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies.
  • Comfortable using transcription software and productivity tools (e.g., Express Scribe, Otter.ai, MS Word, Google Docs).
  • Reliable computer system, high-speed internet connection, and quality headset.
  • Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of transcription experience (preferred in general, legal, or medical transcription).
  • Fresh graduates with excellent language and typing proficiency are also encouraged to apply.

  • Flexible, remote working schedule.
