[Remote] VMware Cloud on AWS Engineer / SME/Remote
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Apetan Consulting LLC is seeking a VMware Cloud on AWS Engineer/SME to design, implement, manage, and optimize hybrid cloud environments using VMware Cloud on AWS. The role involves cloud migrations, infrastructure management, performance optimization, and operational support of VMware-based workloads running on AWS.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage VMware Cloud on AWS environments
- Perform workload migrations from on-premises VMware infrastructure to VMware Cloud on AWS
- Configure and manage SDDC components including vSphere, vCenter, NSX, and vSAN
- Monitor infrastructure health, performance, availability, and capacity
- Implement networking, security, and disaster recovery solutions
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, connectivity, and performance issues
- Automate operational tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools
- Collaborate with cloud, networking, security, and application teams
- Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures
- Provide L2/L3 support and technical guidance for cloud operations
Skills
- Strong experience with: VMware Cloud on AWS
- Strong experience with: VMware vSphere
- Strong experience with: VMware vCenter Server
- Strong experience with: VMware NSX
- Strong experience with: VMware vSAN
- Good understanding of AWS services including: Amazon EC2
- Good understanding of AWS services including: Amazon VPC
- Good understanding of AWS services including: AWS IAM
- Good understanding of AWS services including: Amazon S3
- Experience with hybrid cloud architecture and migrations
- Knowledge of networking concepts (VPN, Direct Connect, routing, firewall policies, DNS)
- Experience with PowerShell, PowerCLI, or Python scripting
- Understanding of backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- VMware certifications such as: VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- VMware certifications such as: VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP)
- AWS certifications such as: AWS Certified Solutions Architect
- AWS certifications such as: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform
- Knowledge of automation and DevOps practices
