Seeking Indonesian Conservation & Eco-Tourism Partners for New Initiative

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

My name is Gavin, and I am building a new initiative called Floranauts & Faunatics under a larger mission umbrella called Cody Conservation & Dorsey Discovery Initiative. I am making this post because I am looking to connect with people, organizations, conservation groups, researchers, guides, operators, educators, eco-tourism teams, marine-life groups, wildlife organizations, and local Indonesian teams who may be interested in helping shape something meaningful together. This is not a traditional “hire a freelancer to complete one task” post. This is more of an open call to connect with people who care deeply about: - conservation - wildlife - marine life - coral reefs - ecosystems - biodiversity - regenerative tourism - ethical eco-tourism - environmental education - conservation awareness - student learning - community benefit - helping people reconnect with nature Background: Indonesia is personally meaningful to me because when I was studying at UC Davis in California, I went through a difficult period in my life, and some of the people who became my closest friends and chosen family were born and raised in Indonesia. Because of that connection, and because Indonesia has some of the most incredible biodiversity, marine life, coral reefs, rainforests, mangroves, and wildlife in the world, I want to begin this initiative there. My partner Hayley is also a major inspiration behind this project because she deeply loves animals, wildlife, conservation, and nature. The Vision: Floranauts & Faunatics is meant to become a connector between people and the natural world. The long-term vision is to create a web that connects: - conservation organizations - marine research groups - coral restoration projects - wildlife conservation organizations - animal welfare groups - local guides and educators - ethical tour operators - transportation providers - eco-lodges and stays - photographers and storytellers - students and universities - learning opportunities - conservation funding opportunities - restoration projects - local communities - ethical nature experiences The goal is not to replace organizations already doing the work. The goal is to help connect people to the organizations, ecosystems, conservation work, learning opportunities, and ethical experiences already happening on the ground while helping local teams gain visibility, funding, partnerships, visitors, and long-term support. I would love for this to eventually become something built together with Indonesians and local organizations rather than something created externally without local involvement. I am especially interested in hearing from people connected to: - Bali - Nusa Lembongan - Nusa Penida - Komodo / Flores / Labuan Bajo - Raja Ampat - Borneo / Kalimantan - Sulawesi - Sumatra - Maluku - marine conservation - coral restoration - mangroves - manta rays - turtles - wildlife conservation - biodiversity mapping - regenerative agriculture - environmental education - student programs - ethical eco-tourism - conservation technology - environmental storytelling - local guide networks Some ideas I am exploring include: - conservation experience packages - student field programs - funded research projects - biodiversity and conservation mapping - conservation storytelling and reporting - transportation and logistics coordination - conservation awareness campaigns - educational experiences - local guide partnerships - ethical eco-tourism systems - conservation-supporting travel - photography and media collaborations - conservation sponsorship programs - reef and ecosystem monitoring projects - multi-organization collaboration networks I am especially interested in connecting with organizations or individuals who: - are already doing meaningful work - care about ethical conservation - care about long-term sustainability - want more visibility or support - may be open to collaboration - may be interested in helping shape this initiative - may have ideas for how something like this could work in Indonesia At this stage, I am primarily looking to connect, learn, research, and understand the landscape better while building the right relationships carefully and respectfully. I do not want to rush this. If this resonates with you, I would love to hear about: - who you are - what your organization or work focuses on - where you are located - what conservation or nature work you are involved in - what challenges or opportunities you see - whether you think there is room for collaborative initiatives like this in Indonesia - whether there are ways organizations could work together more effectively - any ideas you may have I am especially interested in people who want to build something meaningful, collaborative, ethical, locally beneficial, and long-term. Thank you.
