Sapient Search is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join an early stage, venture backed technology company building a complex enterprise platform from the ground up. In this role, you will design scalable backend systems, influence technical architecture, and help shape the future of the product.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
• Build reliable, high performance distributed systems and data pipelines
• Design secure multi tenant backend architecture with strong data isolation
• Collaborate closely with product, frontend, infrastructure, and engineering teams to deliver production ready solutions
• Drive architectural decisions and establish engineering best practices
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to a strong engineering culture

Skills

• 8+ years of backend software engineering experience
• Strong experience designing and building scalable distributed systems
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java
• Experience with API design, backend architecture, and data modeling
• Experience integrating with third party platforms, enterprise systems, or internal tooling
• Experience working in cloud native environments and modern backend architectures
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to solve complex technical problems
