Optomi, in partnership with a leading pet screening technology company, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join a high-impact engineering organization. This role involves partnering with product, architecture, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs while contributing hands-on to development and influencing architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product, architecture, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical designs
• Contribute hands-on to application development, system design, and technical delivery
• Lead technical discussions with stakeholders, engineering teams, and leadership
• Help guide architecture decisions across multiple teams or pods
• Build and support scalable, modern applications using AWS, TypeScript/Node.js, PostgreSQL, and microservices
• Own delivery accountability and help drive projects from design through implementation
• Support AI experimentation efforts and help define best practices around AI/LLM engineering where applicable

Skills

• Strong system design and architecture experience in modern software environments
• Hands-on development experience with the ability to contribute directly to coding and technical implementation
• Experience with AWS, TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL
• Full-stack engineering competency, with a strong backend focus
• Experience designing and building microservices or modern distributed architectures
• Ability to work cross-functionally with product, architecture, engineering, and leadership teams
• Strong communication skills and comfort leading technical conversations
• Self-starter mindset with the ability to operate in a high-ownership, multi-team environment
• Experience with LLMs, AI experimentation, agentic AI concepts, or helping define AI engineering strategy and practices
