[Remote] Volunteer Technical Recruiter

Black Mental Health Matters Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing mental wellness and expanding access to culturally responsive mental health resources. They are seeking a passionate Volunteer Technical Recruiter to build a team of volunteer technology professionals who will contribute to their digital platforms and mental health initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering and executive leadership to understand current and future volunteer staffing needs
  • Source and recruit qualified candidates for technical volunteer roles, including:
  • Full Stack Engineers
  • Front-End Developers (React.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS)
  • Back-End Developers (Node.js, Express.js)
  • Mobile App Developers (React Native, Flutter)
  • UI/UX Designers
  • Product Managers
  • AI/Machine Learning Engineers
  • Data Engineers and Data Analysts
  • DevOps and Cloud Engineers
  • Cybersecurity Specialists
  • QA/Test Engineers
  • Technical Writers
  • Publish volunteer opportunities across LinkedIn, GitHub, university career portals, volunteer platforms, and social media
  • Screen resumes and conduct initial interviews
  • Coordinate interviews with engineering managers and project leads
  • Maintain an organized candidate pipeline and recruitment database
  • Build relationships with universities, coding boot camps, technology communities, and professional associations
  • Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging throughout the recruitment process
  • Support volunteer onboarding and orientation
  • Recommend innovative recruitment and volunteer engagement strategies

Skills

  • Experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, human resources, or volunteer management is preferred
  • Basic understanding of software development and technical roles
  • Excellent communication, interviewing, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
  • Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, or similar sourcing platforms is an advantage
  • Passion for mental health advocacy, nonprofit service, and community impact
